Al Filreis
This course is a fast-paced introduction to modern and contemporary U.S. poetry, from Dickinson and Whitman to the present. Participants (who need no prior experience with poetry) will learn how to read poems that are supposedly "difficult."Dear FIX,
A few updates for all the ModPo people.
1) We have extended the deadline for the week 1 quizzes (there are two of them). You can complete the quizzes until Friday at 11:59 PM eastern time.
2) The first essay assignment is now available. Click on "writing assignment" on the left side of the ModPo home page. If you want your essay to be eligible for comment, you should write and submit it before Sunday, September 23, at 11:59 PM eastern time.
3) Join us, if you can, for our first live webcast session - this week: Wednesday, September 19, starting promptly at 10 AM eastern time. It's very easy to view the webcast. If you can watch a YouTube video you should be able to see us live at that time. The session will last one hour. Click on "live webcast sessions" on the left side of the ModPo home page. If you can travel to Philadelphia, you are welcome to join us at the Kelly Writers House.
4) If you cannot join us for the live webcast, you will be able to watch a recording of the session almost immediately afterward - at our ModPo YouTube channel:

Already the week 2 discussion forums are busy. Smart, intrepid, insightful points are being made. If you aren't yet a ModPo discussion forum regular, check us out!
Yours,
